You may have noticed that blog posts have slowed down over here a little, and it’s for two reasons – one of which I am incredibly excited to reveal.
I think you’re going to love this if you want to make 2015 your best year yet, for your business + life.
Six months ago, my life was frantic. It was peak season, I was swamped with shoots, editing, and all of the other business bazimbo bits. I’d recently launched my first book, I was writing for two big photography blogs and life was all a little argh- crazy.
How was your season- did it look a little like that? Perhaps you wanted it to look more like that. You want to be busier, you want more clients. More more more.
Well, call me crazy, but there is a way for you to have more while working less.
It’s not to do with writing your own book or living a life of financial freedom or anything more like that. Although both of those things very definitely work too, this post isn’t about that.
It’s a simple concept – do more by doing less, and it’s slowly begin to click in for me for the first time, through this site.
Perhaps you noticed, perhaps you didn’t. But I’ve stopped blogging. Not entirely of course! I love writing. But when the FPA began, our goal was daily posts. Every single day, a fresh new post or idea for you to wake up to.
But I had a crazy summer season. I completed our international move. I wrote another book. I worked hard on other things (revealed below)! Inbetween the FPA, life in general just got in the way.
Or did it?
As I slowed down and blogged less, I realised my posts were getting longer.
Which also was the opposite of our intention when starting out – I wanted to create short, snappy posts that you could read whole commuting or in a queue somewhere.
Posting every day no longer felt the right thing for this site, or short, snappy posts. But I wasn’t sure why – what on earth was going on? I had concerns that it would effect you- that you would no longer be a faithful, loyal reader, and would look elsewhere, and that I wouldn’t be providing you with enough.
But if anything, the opposite happened. In one month my second book sold as many copies as my first book has in almost an entire year. You continue to join the FPA subscriber list on a daily basis. I receive emails from you asking how you can help / contribute.
So I was confused.
And then I read this article today on decor8. It talks about the new slow blogging movement. About how Holly is blogging less, in order to live more, basically. And then it hit me.
Life didn’t get in the way of the FPA. Life enhanced it. The more time I spent away from my desk- blogging, editing, updating social media – the more ideas I had for articles, content, collaborations. I have begun planning great things that can truly help to grow your business – which I was only enable to imagine clearly because I had time and space away from it – and which I would never have been able to fit into lots of short, snappy posts.
Sometimes, taking time away from your business is the best thing for it.
I’ve started to write longer posts because I’m passionate about helping you, and because I have so much information that I want to share with you- rather than constantly churning out short ‘filler’ posts purely for the sake of putting something- anything- out there.
Life is so fast now. ‘Inspiration’ is everywhere you look. And everywhere you look up springs a new social media site or business guru or photography blog or lifestyle site. I wanted this site to be beautiful but above all it has to be meaningful. Useful.
A few months ago I ran a blogging course, and so many of you wrote to me, commented on the Facebook post, shared your thoughts. (Watch out for a blog post coming in the New Year showcasing all the talents of those who took part).
Without taking the time away from daily blogging this course would not be possible. And so many of you found it useful + valuable.
So what I want to tell you is this.
The FPA has such a bright future and I’ve got so many exciting plans for it that I am completely cutting down on my own photography bookings next year to bring you so much more. I am entirely dedicating myself to the FPA and to the growth of your business.
And while I have been blogging less, and enjoying lots of lovely family time, there have been plans and ideas bubbling away under the surface that I can’t wait to share with you.
So I can’t hold back any more. This is what you can expect from the FPA in 2015.
*Quality (over quantity). No filler posts – and if you see one, call me out on it! I want to continue to give you truly useful posts on this website. They are likely to be the long kind, for you to devour with tea and biscuits and a notebook, and I make no apology for that. Byebye, filler posts.
But more than that.
You’ve told me you want to grow your business, leave your day jobs, attract your dream clients (and more of them) and become more confident in almost every area of your business. You have such high hopes and dreams for your business, but managing your time, your confidence, and actually getting out there and promoting your business in the way that you need to – with amazing marketing – is holding you back. Does this sound like you?
In the FPA membership, I am going to give you absolutely everything I create. Everything I work on, everything that you’ve asked me for over the past 12 months, will be yours. From growing your client base to attracting your perfect client to brilliant marketing + even creating digital products + writing books – it will all be yours.
Next year, in this Membership, you are going to learn more than ever have before about how to grow your business. I am going to hold you hand and guide you through the next 12 months of your biz + life.
And that’s the main reason why I have been cutting down on posts. I have been preparing this for you. I will still be posting great content on this site, weekly, for free, for you to use. But my heart + soul will be poured into the membership – to providing you with exactly what you need, and what you have been asking me for.
The books I have created so far are only the very tip of the iceberg – there are two amazing courses/workbooks in the pipeline, a book – in addition to the things that you have requested – the mastermind group, the live Q+A’s, weekly tasks + more. I am going to hold your hand and guide you through the next 12 months of your biz + life.
More details will be coming soon, but if you want to grow your photography business in 2015, you might want to think about joining the FPA.
It’s not going to be for those who don’t take their business seriously, who are unable to make any financial commitment to growing their business, or for those who don’t really want to work for success. But for those who want to take their business to the next level, this is it.
Oh, and the investment / time parts? Don’t worry.
It will be affordable, and I will be showing you how to streamline your business so you spend less time chained to the desk and more time enjoying your life -you definitely won’t be overloaded with work. Plus, I have one super-easy way for you to recoup the money you spend on the membership in one easy swoop.
So if that beautifully relaxed December next year sounds like something you dream of? Stop dreaming. Let’s truly make it happen.
Let us make your business goals + dreams become reality. Together we are going to make 2015 incredible, and I personally promise you, your dream business is on the way.
